FAQs
What is ZeroInhibition?
It is the online gallery of the works by erotic artist Richard Gravis. RG trained as a fine art photographer at a top London Art College, but has started to move in a different direction having grown increasingly disillusioned with the “art world”. The online gallery represents an attempt to connect directly with collectors rather than just going through the gallery system. It also represents a different pricing structure intended to make work more affordable and collectable.
What is a “Hand Printed, Tannin-Toned Cyanotype”?
Cyanotype is an alternative photographic printing process originally documented by the astronomer Sir John Herschel in 1842. Instead of light sensitive silver based compounds it uses two simple iron compounds to create a greenish mixture that when exposed to UV light turns a distinctive cyan or blue colour. The resulting salts are incredibly stable and the prints will last for decades. The Prints here are currently all then toned to give the paper and prints their distinctive aged look. (I may do some un-toned work (ie in blue and white) later if I find the right series for it though). As such each piece is completely individual and slight variations between prints should be accepted as part of their charm.
The prints offered for sale on this site are NOT giclee reprints of an original piece of work. Each one is hand-printed by the artist from an original negative on to paper hand-coated by the artist, and then lovingly toned (by the artist!). This makes each one a unique individual piece, and although I want to make them affordable the pricing has had to reflect the time that goes into the creation of each print, since it is a lot more complicated and time consuming than just clicking ‘Print’!
What size are the actual prints?
At the moment I am keeping things small and everything is approx 7.5”square printed onto A4 Art papers. There is a possible plan to also offer another edition of larger prints which would be about 13” square in order to show more detail, but I am not sure if enough people would be interested in the larger prints – do drop me a line if so! I am also toying with the idea of hand-tinted silver based prints so watch this space!
How are the prints supplied?
Prints are supplied unmounted and unframed. I am planning to offer mounting and framing shortly but need to finalise details with suppliers. If you would like them mounted/framed for delivery let me know via the contact form and I can get some prices to you. They are shipped in discreet packages.
How can I pay?
Payment is preferred through the PAYPAL system and shopping cart on the site. The pricing on the site is in Sterling, but papyal will allow you to pay in most currencies. I am also able to accept personal cheques in dollars and sterling - just use the contact form for more details. However I will not send out goods until funds have cleared.
